Fourth of July Cookout – Steaks, Burgers, and Ribs
For many Fourth of July is a time to celebrate our freedom and way of life. A time to remember what our founding fathers in America fought for so many years ago. With the sizzling summer heat amongst us, there is no better to to enjoy our celebrations than with a cookout by the pool.
Everyone has their own preference on what to grill on this special day, some even with their own special family recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation. For me there is nothing more American than cooking Steaks, Burgers, and Ribs on this glorious day. Yes this is one of those days I like to call cheat day and eat what I want as long as it is in moderation.
With my steaks I prefer premium angus beef that is hand picked, hand cut and perfectly aged. I then marinate them in my own special marinade and let it sit for about 8 hours in the refrigerator before throwing it on the grill. I typically like to cook my steaks slowly and prefer them medium rare with the center having a hint of red. After I plate my steak and I’m ready to eat it I like to glaze it over with a dash of steak sauce. Some people say that ruins the steak, but I don’t care. I love my steak sauce on my juicy succulent steak when eating it.
Next up are burgers. Not just any burgers though. My favorite burgers that I love to buy are gourmet angus steak burgers that are top one-third USDA choice or higher, aged 4-6 weeks, and made from 100% Midwestern corn-fed angus beef. Before slapping my burgers on the grill I season them, again with my own special seasoning (sorry ya’ll, but it’s a secret recipe) and then slapping them on the grill over a medium heat and grilling them to perfection. Now depending on who I’m grilling them for I may cook some medium rare, and others well done. I prefer mine medium rare. There is nothing like the taste of a juicy, mouth watering, savory gourmet angus steak burger that just tastes and smells like freedom. I’ve probably worked up quite the appetite for you by now huh? Well we have one more of my favorite items to grill on the Fourth of July.
Ribs. Fourth of July and ribs just go together so well. There is nothing better than grilling some Chicago style baby back ribs by Coach Ditka on the Fourth of July. I’m not going to lie though. I’m not that great at grilling ribs as I am steaks, and burgers. That is why I prefer to buy Coach Ditka’s Chicago style baby back ribs. They come already cooked, seasoned, and with the sauce already added so all you need to do is reheat the ribs until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees. Then you just plate them and enjoy by the pool with an ice cold drink.
